Bursaries
Application deadline: 6 November 2026
Digital Scholar will offer five bursaries of €500 each to support early-career researchers with limited financial resources or in precarious working positions who wish to present at CHR2027 in Manchester.
Call for Applications
The bursaries are intended to reduce participation costs, such as travel and accommodation, for early-career researchers who might otherwise be unable to attend. Applicants must have at least one accepted contribution (paper, poster, lightning talk, or workshop) in the CHR2027 programme.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Priority will be given to applicants who:
- are in precarious or low-income positions, such as those on short-term or fractional contracts, unfunded or self-funded PhD researchers, independent scholars, under- or unemployed researchers, or staff from low-resource institutions;
- demonstrate that financial constraints would significantly limit their ability to attend the conference; and
- show that participation in CHR2027 will have a clear academic, professional, or community impact, such as advancing a project, strengthening collaborations, supporting career development, or enabling community engagement.
In cases of equal merit, the selection committee may also consider:
- the contribution to the diversity of voices and perspectives within the CHR community; and
- balance across institutions and countries or regions.
